Tables Gadget Configuration

Overview

The tables gadget allows users to input data into a table format on any form in the system (course, program etc.). There are two ways it can be configured:

  • Free tables allow users to add and delete as many columns as they need.

  • Set tables lock down the number of rows and columns for the user.

Free Tables

This type of table lets a user input data into a table format but add and delete as many rows as needed.

Admin Setup


  1. Decide on attributes of table

    1. Number of columns

    2. Column labels

    3. Type of column

    4. Default number of rows

In Practice


  1. Click the trashcan icon to delete a row

 


  1. Click Add Row to add a new row

 


  1. Enter data into the table

 


  1. Click Leave Edit Mode on the right-hand side

 





Set Tables

These tables allow admins to put constraints on a table so users cannot change the format

  1. If admin decides they want to be able to lock the structure of the table they gain the ability to label the rows


  1. Decide on attributes for the table

    1. Number of columns

    2. Column labels

    3. Type of column

    4. Number of rows

    5. Row labels

In Practice


  1. Add and delete buttons are removed from the Table when structure is locked down.

 


  1. Enter data into the table

 


  1. Click Leave Edit Mode on the right-hand side.

 




Tips

  • Column width is divided evenly across all columns. The more columns you put on a table the less space each cell will have. Column headers will wrap if the title is too long.
